Government officers are a special breed in Kerala. They are the most hated creatures by the public. Philosophies of hatred been preached by political parties and fanatic groups. They resort to violence to eliminate their opponents whereas the common enemies of the people of Kerala are always been spared by their victims because they feel insecure.
Violence is in no way a remedy for any social or political issue but you need to stand up with dignity and voice against this scourge. I once applied for a birth certificate and was forced stay away from work for nearly 3 months visiting Kozhikkode Corporation office, Chevayur and Chelavoor village offices, RDO office, Chevayur Health Inspector’s office, etc. None of them displayed even compassion or fellow feeling.. with the exception of a staff at the RDO. Apparently they all wanted money, but I did not know their subtle ways of bribing… but with the help of a local expert I could. The worst amongst them was the Health Inspector and he kept harassing me until he was fully satisfied.. as he somehow realised that I was going to Australia, he made things as hard as he could… If people stand together and name and shame these shameless pests, we can bring in some positive changes.
Whenever I enjoy the great services from the government offices of other countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, UAE, etc. I feel sorry for the plight of my fellow Keralites back home.
